The Malabar House Residency

Munnar

one the most beautiful hill station of Kerala where the tea plantations spread like a green carpet on Earth. Munnar is still very much a British Tea Plantation Town, its beauty further enhanced by great black roads that thrust upwards from amidst the thick vegetation. Clouds drop gently on the mountain peaks that flank the verdant shaped slender blue and red gum trees that shoot up into the sky and the winding lanes of the town. The town is situated at the confluence of the three mountain streams, Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala.

Periyar

One of the hill stations produces large quantity of Spices, like pepper, cardamom etc. Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary – one of the well maintained wild life sanctuaries of South India. Situated on the banks of an artificial lake formed with the construction of an irrigation dam. Now declared as a tiger reserve, this sanctuary is the best place to see the wild elephants, bison’s, wild dogs, deer’s, water birds and occasionally tiger.

Shalimar Spice Garden

Surya Samudra

Coconut Lagoon

Mararikulam

Tucked away behind a line of dense palms that rise like a sudden rampart of green out of the sands. Like all villages, it has evolved naturally, in picturesque disorder.The huts are slapdash adobe, thatched with-what else? -palm and tied with coir, or coconut rope. Marari beach

Brunton Boatyard

This hotel was commissioned on the 18th of August 99 is a great tribute to the city of Cochin. Hotel Brunton Boat Yard was designed and built in the style and principle of the early Dutch and Portuguese architecture. The hotel gives an impression of the old Portuguese architecture. It's hard to believe that the Brunton is a new building since it resembles the old colonial buildings of Cochin. The simple lime washed walls, sloping tile roof and terra-cotta floors wit the Giant "Rain Tree" completing the picture...

Kannyakumary

Named after the Goddess Kannyakumari Amman who is the popular deity of the area.Legend has it that the Goddess Parvati in one of her incarnations as Devi Kanniya did penance on one of the rocks of this land's end to obtain the hand of Lord Shiva. Malabar

a land with a resonant past. Myths and legends abound. The ships of Solomon, they say anchored along our coasts to collect timber for building the ‘Temple of the Lord’. Malabar has always been a favorite destination of the intrepid foreign traveler. Europeans, Chinese and Arabs have visited our coasts. In his book of travels Marco Polo recounts his visit to the area circa 1250 A.D. Other visitors included Fahian, the Buddhist pilgrim and Ibn Batuta, writer and historian of Tangiers.

Old colonial style mansion overlooking the blue Arabian sea. This bungalow was built in 1862 by Murdoch Brown , an Englishman who came to Tellicherry as a trader of the East India company. Murdoch Brown set up a 300 acre Cinnamon gardens largest in Asia, 10 kms away from this house , which still exists and is the only one- of - it's kind in the country.
